PACHECO, DIRECTOR TITLE AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS COMMITTED BY THE URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY OF PUEBLO IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,500 RELATED TO THE SENIOR PLANNER POSITION WITHIN THE PLANNING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ISSUE Should the City Council budget and appropriate $12,500 in funds committed by the Urban Renewal Authority of Pueblo (URA) to partially fund the Senior Planner position within the Planning and Community Development Department? RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Ordinance. BACKGROUND A Senior Planner position in the Planning and Community Development Department was filled in August 2010 and assigned to work on redevelopment and neighborhood improvement strategies in cooperation with the URA and other City departments and non-profit agencies. The URA has committed to fund $12,500 of the Senior Planner salary from August through December 2010. The majority of the Senior Planner’s time will be focusing on the Fountain Creek Confluence Urban Renewal Area. This Ordinance budgets and appropriates the $12,500 into the Salaries/General Service account 101-1110-411.10-40 within the Planning and Community Development Budget. FINANCIAL IMPACT The funds from the URA will allow the Senior Planner position to be staffed without any additional General Funds being allocated for Planning Department salaries in 2010.
