AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $26,003
FROM THE PROJECTS TO BE DETERMINED ACCOUNT IN
THE HARP LAND SALES FUND TO HARP PHASE IIIA-2
VISITORS CENTER AND GATEWAY PARK BRIDGE PROJECT,
CAPITAL PROJECT NO. PWHP08 - FY 2010 AND BUDGETING
AND APPROPRIATING THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $26,003
TO CAPITAL PROJECT PWHP08
WHEREAS, it was necessary to remove the breezeway between the old Police
Building and the Annex for the construction of the Veteran’s Pedestrian Bridge to
progress; and
WHEREAS, H.W. Houston agreed to do the demolition as a change order to their
existing contract for construction of the bridge; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the demolition of the breezeway is $26,003.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Funds in the amount of $26,003 shall be transferred from the HARP Land Sales
Fund into the Visitor Center and Gateway Park Bridge Project, Capital Project No.
PWHP08 – FY 2010.
SECTION 2.
The amount of $26,003 is hereby budgeted and appropriated for the
HARP Phase IIIA-2 – Visitors Center and Gateway Park Bridge Project, Capital Project
No. PWHP08 to be used for the construction of said project. The amended budget for
Capital Project No. PWHP08 is $1,564,627.

Phase IIIA-2 – Visitors Center and Gateway Park Bridge Project, Capital Project
PWHP08 – FY 2010?

Approval of this Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
On March 8, 2010, City Council approved a resolution awarding a contract to H.W.
Houston Construction for the construction of the Veteran’s Pedestrian Bridge at
Gateway Park. In order for the bridge to be built, it was necessary to remove the
pedestrian breezeway that ran between the old Police Building and Annex. Initially, the
City intended to use its own forces to demolish the bridge, but upon further
consideration it was determined that the City did not possess the proper equipment for
this task. Therefore, the City of Pueblo and H.W. Houston both signed a change order
to add this work to H.W. Houston’s existing contract for construction of the bridge.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of the demolition and removal of the breezeway is $26,003. Funds for this
additional work shall come from the Projects to be determined account in the HARP
Land Sales Fund and shall be transferred into HARP Phase IIIA-2 – Visitors Center and
Gateway Park Bridge Project, Capital Project No. PWHP08 – FY 2010.
