HomeMy WebLinkAbout11969RESOLUTION NO. 11969 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $231,623.45 TO CORTEZ CONSTRUCTION, CO., INC., AND SETTING FORTH $34,743.51 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK, FOR PROJECT NO. 10-070 EASTSIDE TERRACES-MASONRY, PAINT REMOVAL & CLEANING AT 815-833 E. 4TH STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT NO. 10-070 Eastside Terraces-Masonry, Paint Removal & Cleaning at 815-833 E. 4th Street have been received and examined, and; WHEREAS, the proposal of Cortez Construction, Co., Inc., of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. A contract for PROJECT NO. 10-070 Eastside Terraces-Masonry, Paint Removal & Cleaning at 815-833 E. 4th Street be, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $231,623.45. SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, A Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution. BACKGROUND This project will consist of the paint removal and cleaning of the masonry at the Eastside Terraces multi-family project, 815-833 East 4th St. These properties were purchased under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP1). This contract is one of the contracts to be awarded to rehabilitate the multi-family dwellings. Expenditures have already been made for pre-contract costs, purchase and maintenance of the properties. HOME Investment Partnership Act and Community Development Block Grant funds will also be used in this project to complete the construction. Upon completion the properties will be transferred to Posada to provide 16 units of affordable housing for veterans whose incomes do not exceed 50% of the area median income. FINANCIAL IMPACT The Neighborhood Stabilization Program was previously appropriated and a project account has been set-up in Fund No. 241. HEM001- $266,366.96
