RESOLUTION NO. 11954
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $400,496.21 TO CORTEZ CONSTRUCTION, AND SETTING
FORTH $40,049.62 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK,
FOR PROJECT NO. 10-063 SINGLE-FAMILY PROJECT B NEW
CONSTRUCTION AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO
EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for PROJECT NO. 10-063 Single-Family Project B have been
received and examined, and;
WHEREAS, the proposal of Cortez Construction, of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest of
those bids determined to be responsible;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for PROJECT NO. 10-063 Single-Family Project B be, and the same is
hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $400,496.21.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
A Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount
as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work.
Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . . $40,049.62
SECTION 4.
Funds for said project shall be from Project Codes:
HES009 - $110,000 CD0933 - $9031.07
HES004 - $120,000 HO0940 - $105,499.76
HES002 - $96,015

ISSUE
Should City Council award a construction contract for the reconstruction of three single-family
homes to Cortez Construction, for $400,496.21?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
This project will consist of the reconstruction of three single-family homes at the following
addresses:
1222 Taylor Avenue1029 ½ Pine Street
1625 E. River Street
With the exception of Spruce Street all the properties will have the existing structures
demolished and new homes constructed. These properties were purchased under the
Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP1) and this will complete the commitment of our NSP
grant in the amount of $1.04 million for single-family purchases. Expenditures have already
been made for pre-contract costs, purchase and maintenance of the properties. HOME
Investment Partnership Act Grant funds will also be used in this project to complete the
construction.
The homes will be sold to eligible homebuyers that meet the requirements of the grant.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant was previously appropriated and project
accounts have been set-up for each property in Fund No. 241.
1222 Taylor Avenue – HES009- $110,000
1029 ½ Pine Street – HES004 - $120,000
1625 E. River St. – HES 002- $96,015.00
The HOME Investment Partnership Act grant was previously appropriated for said purposes.
Funding in the amount of $105,499.76 is available in Fund No. 251 in project number HO0940.
The Community Development Block Grant funds were previously appropriated for said
purposes. Funding in the amount of $9031.07 will be made available in Fund No. 250 in project
number CD0933.
