TITLE
AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE J. EUCLID MILES HOUSE, 1007 LAKE
AVENUE, AS A LOCAL HISTORIC LANDMARK
ISSUE
Shall City Council designate The J. Euclid Miles House as a local Pueblo Historic
Landmark, pursuant to the Historic Preservation Code, Title IV, Chapter 14 of the
Pueblo Municipal Code?
RECOMMENDATION
Adoption of Ordinance, as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission at
their Work Session on April 22, 2010 and the Historic Preservation Commission at their
Regular Meeting on March 25, 2010.
BACKGROUND
Since its construction in 1900 by local developer J. Euclid Miles, who was an active
developer in South Pueblo, the building has served as a residence for the Bessemer
and CF&I middle class for 110 years. The home is a fine example of a transitional
Queen Anne and Classic Revival single family residence. The designation is
consensual and the owner is aware of all the benefits and responsibilities conferred by
designation.
Findings of staff, the Historic Preservation Commission and the Planning and Zoning
Commission are attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
