HomeMy WebLinkAbout11914RESOLUTION NO. 11914 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO APPLY FOR COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION GRANT FUNDING FOR A DUI ENFORCEMENT GRANT, COVERING THE PERIOD FROM JULY THROUGH DECEMBER 2010 WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo is eligible to submit a grant application to the Colorado Department of Transportation for DUI Enforcement Grant funding; and WHEREAS, the term of the grant covers the period from July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010; and WHEREAS, the funds from this grant will be utilized by the City of Pueblo to benefit the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The application for Colorado Department of Transportation DUI Enforcement Grant funding, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved. The President of the City Council is authorized to submit the application in the name of the City. SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective upon its passage. TITLE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO APPLY FOR COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION GRANT FUNDING FOR A DUI ENFORCEMENT GRANT, COVERING THE PERIOD FROM JULY THROUGH DECEMBER 2010 ISSUE The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has informed the Police Department that funds are available for DUI Enforcement Grant Funding. The term of this grant covers the period from July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. RECOMMENDATION The department recommends approval of this resolution. BACKGROUND The Colorado Department of Transportation DUI Enforcement Grant funding provides funds to units of local government for the purpose of DUI Enforcement during critical holiday times. The program is designed to help local communities address problems specific to their area. This grant request is for $17,500.00 which will cover 7 enforcement periods beginning th with the July 4 weekend and ending with New Years Eve enforcement. FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no Financial Impact on the City as no match is required for this grant.
