The requested equipment is a mobile laptop computer set -up, similar to what our patrol officers have in their cars. However, this computer would be installed in the Registered Sex Offender Unit's unmarked car, which would greatly enhance the efficiency of tracking and managing Pueblo's 500+ sex offenders. Currently, when instant data is needed to confirm information in a sex offender's file, a call must be made to a records clerk to get that information. If the information is needed after business hours, the Detective must return to his office to retrieve information in the sex offender's file (dispatch does not have access). Most of our sex offender address verifications /residence checks are done at night, so this has been a problem for many years. We feel that if the Detective has instant access to the sex offender files in his car, this whole dilemma can be solved and more checks can be done. I've attached a list of products (below) with current pricing for the equipment needed.
