ISSUE
Should City Council authorize the filing of an application for federal assistance from the
Federal Aviation Administration for the design and construction of a new training runway
and associated taxiways at Pueblo Memorial Airport.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
This application is for the request of grant funding for the design and construction of a
new training runway and associated taxiways. The FAA has determined that the current
training runway is unsafe due to its proximity to the ramp. The funds requested with this
application are for 95% of the project funding. A grant has been requested from the State
that will fund 2.5% and the City's obligation will be 2.5 %.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total project is estimated at $8,789,474. The application for federal assistance is for
$8,350,000. Funds have been requested from the State in the amount of $219,737. The
City's local match of $219,737 has been budgeted in the 2010 Capital Improvement fund.
