HomeMy WebLinkAbout11742RESOLUTION NO. 11742 A RESOLUTION REMOVING MEMBERS FROM THE CLEAN UP PUEBLO ADVISORY AND PLANNING COMMITTEE, DECLARING VACANCIES AND APPOINTING NEW MEMBERS THERETO WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2 -5 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo, unless otherwise required by law, all boards and commissions shall be appointed by Council for terms specified by Council and members of such boards are subjected to removal by Council; and WHEREAS, under and by virtue of Resolution No. 2644 of the City Council, passed and approved on August 24, 1970, Council provided that if any member of an appointed board shall absent himself from three consecutive regular meetings of the board, such office is automatically declared vacant; and WHEREAS, on June 9, 2008, City Council appointed Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin to the Clean Up Pueblo Advisory and Planning Committee for terms to expire on June 9, 2010, subject to removal as herein above provided; and WHEREAS, City Council finds and concludes that Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin have absented themselves from duly called and noticed consecutive meetings of the Clean Up Pueblo Advisory and Planning Committee held on April 28, 2009, June 23, 2009 and July 28, 2009 without excuse; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 Pursuant to Section 2 -5 of the Charter, Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin are hereby removed as members of the Clean Up Pueblo Advisory and Planning Committee, and said offices are declared vacant. SECTION 2 The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Clean Up Pueblo Advisory and Planning Committee to fill the vacancies created by the removal of Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin, for the remainder of the terms expiring June 9, 2010. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution BACKGROUND On June 9, 2008, City Council appointed Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin to the Clean Up Pueblo Advisory and Planning Committee for 2 -year terms expiring on June 9, 2010, subject to removal as provided by Resolution No. 2644 of the City Council, passed and approved August 24, 1970. Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin have absented themselves from duly called and noticed consecutive meetings of the Clean Up Pueblo Advisory and Planning Committee held on April 28, 2009, June 23, 2009 and July 28, 2009 without excuse. Letters notifying Brandon Martin and Cameron Martin that they were officially removed from the Committee were mailed on August 4, 2009. Following an advertisement published in The Pueblo Chieftain on September 27, 2009, seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: APPLICANTS Sarah L. Willson Brigitte Juarez FINANCIAL IMPACT RESIDENCE City of Pueblo City of Pueblo This is a volunteer committee, and members serve without compensation.
