TITLE
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PERMIT, INSPECTION AND PLAN REVIEW FEES
REQUIRED UNDER CHAPTER 2 OF TITLE III OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE AND
THE 2003 INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE
ISSUE
Should City Council adopt this resolution setting the permit inspection and plan review fee
schedule required under Chapter 2 of Title III of the Pueblo Municipal Code and the 2003
International Fire Code?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution
BACKGROUND
On September 14, 2009, City Council passed an ordinance amending Chapter 2 of Title III of
the Municipal Code relating to the Fire Code, modifying the 2009 International Fire Code, as
adopted and amended and establishing permit fees for required operational and construction
permits.
This resolution sets the fee schedule for the annual operational permits. It also sets the
construction permit fees associated with each construction permit required by Section 105.7 of
the International Fire Code.
The resolution sets the Plan Review Fee for reviewing construction plans for compliance with
the International Fire Code for all occupancies except R -3 (which is one and two family
dwellings and child care facilities that provide accommodation for five or fewer persons of any
age for less than 24 hours). This resolution also sets inspection and re- inspection fees required
for special inspections for new businesses and sales tax, etc. This resolution does not establish
fees for fire company inspections which are performed to ensure compliance with the
International Fire Code 2003.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City currently subsidizes activities requiring permits under the Fire Code by performing
necessary Fire Department services without charge. After adoption of this fee schedule, the
fees will increase city revenues by approximately $150,000., and decrease the subsidy provided
to permitted activities under the Fire Code.
