HomeMy WebLinkAbout11608RESOLUTION NO. 11608 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING FROM THE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE HISTORIC COLORADO FUEL AND IRON LANDSCAPE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE THE SAME BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1. A grant application requesting $193,000 from the Colorado Department of Transportation for funding from the Transportation Enhancement Program to construct the Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Project, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the grant applications in the name of and on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. PACHECO, DIRECTOR TITLE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING FROM THE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE HISTORIC COLORADO FUEL AND IRON LANDSCAPE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE THE SAME ISSUE Should the City Council authorize the submittal of a grant application to the Colorado Department of Transportation for funding from the Transportation Enhancement Program for the Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Project and authorize the President of City Council to execute the same? Approval of the Resolution. BACKGROUND The Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Project grant application includes the landscape improvements to beautify the area surrounding the historic complex of buildings and parking area north of the medical dispensary, along with upgrade of historic street lighting, handicap accessible curb and gutters, fencing along the 1 -25 right -of -way, and landscaping with an irrigation system. FINANCIAL IMPACT The Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Project is estimated to cost $245,000. The following is a breakdown of the proposed funding for the project: CDOT Enhancement Funds $ 193,000 Bessemer Historical Society (cash) $ 40,000 Bessemer Historical Society (in -kind) $ 12,000 TOTAL $ 245,000 The City will need to appropriate and budget funds for the project, if grant funding is awarded, prior to approval of a grant agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation. A separate agreement will need to be approved by the City and the Bessemer Historical Society prior to entering into a grant contract addressing administration of grant funds and long -term maintenance of the landscape improvements.
