A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO
APPLY FOR A 2009 COLORADO DIVISION OF CRIMINAL
JUSTICE RECOVERY ACT JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR
POLICE RAPID RESPONSE TACTICAL EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo is eligible to submit a grant application to the
Colorado Division of Criminal Justice for a 2009 Recovery Act Justice Assistance Grant
for Police Rapid Response Tactical Equipment; and
WHEREAS, the term of the grant covers the period from October 1, 2009 to
September 30, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the funds from this grant will be utilized by the City of Pueblo to
benefit the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the City; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The application for a 2009 Colorado Division of Criminal Justice Recovery Act
Justice Assistance Grant for Police Rapid Response Tactical Equipment, a copy of which
is attached hereto, is hereby approved. The President of the City Council is authorized
to submit the application in the name of the City.
SECTION 2.
This resolution shall become effective upon its passage.

COLORADO DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE RECOVERY ACT JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
GRANT FOR POLICE RAPID RESPONSE TACTICAL EQUIPMENT
ISSUE
The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice (CDOJ) has informed the Police Department
that funds are available under the Recovery Act Justice Assistance Grant Program for
Police Rapid Response Tactical Equipment. The term of this grant covers the period
from October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2011.
RECOMMENDATION
The department recommends approval of this resolution.
BACKGROUND
The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice Recovery Act Justice Assistance Grant Program
provides funds to units of local government for the purpose of improving law
enforcement technology and upgrading necessary equipment. The program is designed
to help local communities address problems specific to their area.
This grant request is for $422,300.00 for the acquisition of several items of tactical law
enforcement and rescue equipment, including five ballistic shields, a tactically
deployable portable camera system, two thermal imagers, and a multi - purpose tactical
response and rescue vehicle with ballistic and blast protection capabilities.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no City match for the grant application. There will be ongoing costs for
maintenance, repair and insurance for the multi - purpose tactical response and rescue
vehicle.
