HomeMy WebLinkAbout11512RESOLUTION NO. 11512 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FUNDING FOR POLICE BODY ARMOR VESTS IN PROJECT NUMBER PD0504, AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS THEREFORE WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo has the authority on behalf of the City of Pueblo, including its Police Department, to accept funding from the U.S. Department of Justice for public and municipal purposes, and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) has tendered funds for Police Body Armor Vests that will not exceed the amount of $7,695.00, and WHEREAS, acceptance of the funding for the purposes for which it has been made is in the best interest of the City and will benefit the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the City; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Award of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) funding to the City of Pueblo is hereby accepted and approved. SECTION 2. Project Number PD0504, Body Armor Grant, has been established in the Police Grants Fund. SECTION 3. The amount of $7,695.00 is hereby authorized for transfer from the Projects to be Determined Account in the Police Grants Fund to Project Number PD0504. Said funds shall only be expended and used for this Project. TITLE A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FUNDING FOR POLICE BODY ARMOR VESTS IN PROJECT NUMBER PD0504, AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS THEREFORE ISSUE Should the City of Pueblo accept U.S. Department of Justice funding on behalf of the Pueblo Police Department in an amount not to exceed $7,695.00? RECOMMENDATION The Department recommends approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND All Pueblo police officers are provided with body armor vests as part of their uniform. This funding will allow the Police Department to purchase new body armor vests for the 17 new and future officers in the POST certified academy at the department. FINANCIAL IMPACT This funding is a 50 -50 match. The City of Pueblo placed a match amount into the Body Armor account previously when vests were purchased for all department police officers. Therefore, there is no match required for this funding amount.
