HomeMy WebLinkAbout11475RESOLUTION NO. 11475 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $81,349.68 TO PARKER EXCAVATING, INC., AND SETTING FORTH $0.00 FOR CONTINGENCIES, FOR EMERGENCY SANITARY SEWER REPAIR IN UNION AVENUE, AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, an emergency sanitary sewer repair was authorized by the Pueblo City Manager in accordance with Section 1 -10 -5 of the Pueblo Municipal Code, and; WHEREAS the emergency repair work was awarded to Parker Excavating, Inc. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. A contract to repair the sanitary sewer in Union Avenue, Contract Agreement for Sanitary Sewer Repair with Parker Excavating, Inc. (Project No. 07 -007; WW0808) be, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $81,349.68 SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, A Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. RECOMMENDATION Approve this Resolution. BACKGROUND In the summer of 2008, the Wastewater Department became aware of badly deteriorated VCP Pipe in Union Avenue. Television inspection revealed broken pipe with holes. The sewer main is more than 100 years old and required immediate rehabilitation. The quote for the unit prices for the work by Parker Excavating, Inc. is attached. This work is being done under the Emergency Sanitary Sewer Point Repair multi -year contract under which four contractors were qualified via competitive bid.
