HomeMy WebLinkAbout11470RESOLUTION NO. 11470 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE BESSEMER HISTORICAL SOCIETY, A COLORADO NONPROFIT CORPORATION, REGARDING COMMITMENT OF FUNDS FOR THE FORGED IN STEEL 121 YEARS OF CF &I AND BESSEMER NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo has agreed to be the sponsoring entity for the Bessemer Historical Society National Park Service Preserve America grant to fund the "Forged in Steel" 121 Years of CF &I and Bessemer Neighborhood project, subject to the execution of a grant agreement; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: RFrTIC)N 1 A cooperation agreement between the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the Bessemer Historical Society, a Colorado Nonprofit Corporation, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein and having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute said agreement on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the Seal of the City thereto and attest same. PACHECO, DIRECTOR TITLE A RESOLUTION APPROVING A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE BESSEMER HISTORICAL SOCIETY, A COLORADO NONPROFIT CORPORATION, REGARDING COMMITMENT OF FUNDS FOR THE FORGED IN STEEL 121 YEARS OF CF &I AND BESSEMER NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME ISSUE Should the City of Pueblo enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the Bessemer Historical Society (BHS) whereby the City will provide $25,000 in National Park Service (NPS) funds and BHS will agree to satisfactorily complete the items of work in accordance with the terms and requirements of National Park Service Contract 08 -08- 4110 and this Cooperation Agreement? RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND The City Council authorized the submittal of a grant application on June 23, 2008 (Resolution No. 11314) to the National Park Service for Preserve America Program funding for the Bessemer Historical Society (BHS) relating to the "Forged in Steel" - 121 Years of CF &I and Bessemer Neighborhood Project. The project consists of marketing the Steelworks Museum of Industry and Culture and CF &I Achieves and to further enhance the outreach efforts of the Bessemer Historical Society toward the promotion of Pueblo's economic and social history to the generations of today. A grant in the amount of $25,000 has been awarded to the City of Pueblo to complete the project. The grant monies will be sent to the City and passed through to BHS. The City and the Bessemer Historical Society will need to execute a cooperation agreement governing the administration of the grant, specifying the work tasks of the Bessemer Historical Society, providing for compensation to the Bessemer Historical Society including method of payment, and the terms of agreement. FINANCIAL IMPACT There will be no financial impact to the City other than in -kind services provided by the Planning and Finance Departments for the administration of the budget and cooperation agreement. BHS will be responsible for providing the matching dollars required in the National Park Service grant contract.
