HomeMy WebLinkAbout11443RESOLUTION NO. 11443 A RESOLUTION CREATING A STREETSCAPE ADVISORY COMMITTEE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: There is hereby established and created the Pueblo Streetscape Advisory Committee (the "Committee ") as an advisory committee to the City Council. The Committee shall consist of seven (7) members to serve without compensation. The City Council shall appoint the members of the Committee. Members shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years provided that members initially will be appointed for staggered terms. The Committee shall select its own officers and may adopt bylaws not inconsistent with this Resolution. SECTION 2: Functions of the Committee shall be as follows: a) Investigate, evaluate, promote and recommend projects with respect to Streetscape Projects throughout the City of Pueblo. b) Create a community awareness program as to the availability and use of grant and general fund monies, and volunteerism to maintain sustainable streetscapes. c) Make periodic reports with respect to Streetscape Projects to the City Council. d) Assist in implementing Resolution No. 11060, adopted by City Council on July 9, 2007, promoting the use of Western Landscaping withing the Pueblo community. SECTION 3: The Committee shall have no regular staff or budget but may request administrative assistance from the Department of Planning and Community Development. GALLI, CITY MANAGER TITLE A RESOLUTION CREATING A STREETSCAPE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ISSUE Should the City Council create a new committee to evaluate, promote and recommend streetscape projects within the City of Pueblo? RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution. BACKGROUND It is the desire of City Council to create a committee of interested individuals to evaluate, promote and make recommendations in relation to Streetscape Projects within the City of Pueblo. All members of the Committee shall be appointed by the City Council and shall be subject to removal by the City Council. The Committee shall have the authority to elect its own officers and adopt its own bylaws. Meetings of the Committee shall be open to the public and adequate notice thereof shall be given to its members. The Committee shall be composed of seven members to serve staggered three -year terms. Initial terms shall be as follows: Three terms shall expire November 1, 2011, two terms shall expire November 1, 2010 and two terms shall expire November 1, 2009, all terms thereafter shall be three -year terms. The Department of Planning and Community Development will be the coordinating department for the Streetscape Advisory Committee. FINANCIAL IMPACT This is a volunteer Committee and the members shall serve without compensation.
