TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $10,000 FROM THE
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2008 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE OUT
OF CYCLE REQUESTS TO FUND THE INDEPENDENCE FILM FEST OF
COLORADO'S 2008 INDEPENDENCE FILM FEST
ISSUE
The Independence Film Fast of Colorado has requested financial assistance from the
City for their 2008 Independence Film Fest, which will be held in Pueblo September 26-
28, 2008. The festival celebrates films as they were made in the 1960s, 70s and 80s
and shows film location scouts around the communities that participate in the festival
the tremendous locations and resources of that particular community. Filmmaker
Lawrence Foldes, who runs the Fest, believes the Pueblo Union Depot, HARP, and
Robert Hoag Rawlings Public Library offer great venues for both movie making and
movie reviewing. This would give the community of Pueblo the opportunity to show off
its amenities and cultural highlights for potential movie industry projects.
RECOMMENDATION
The Resolution is at the recommendation of Council Members Vidmar and Ortegon.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $10,000 will be transferred from the Contingencies Account in
the 2008 General Fund Budget (see attached spreadsheet for the balance in the
contingencies account).
