THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME
ISSUE
Should the City Council award a construction contract in the amount of $12,000
to A &R Construction, LLC, for emergency sanitary sewer repair in the 20'
Sanitary Sewer Easement of 4530 Dillon Drive?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
In January 2008, A &R Construction excavated the Pueblo Wastewater
Department's sanitary sewer main located in the easement of 4530 Dillon Drive.
The purpose of this excavation was to create a service tap for the construction of
a Holiday Inn. The contractor exposed the main and discovered that it was very
deteriorated, and unable to function as designed. The contractor communicated
the main's condition to the Wastewater Department who then requested A &R
repair 13 feet of the deteriorated vitrified clay pipe. This line serves development
in the 1 -25 corridor; the broken line could have caused loss of service and
possibly a sewage spill into Fountain Creek. Please find attached a copy of the
invoice issued by A &R Construction LCC.
The cost breakdown for the project is as follows:
Sewer Replacement - related
Lump Sum Replacement ............ .....................$12,000.00
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for this project will come from the emergency repair budget funded by
the Sewer User Fund. Funding is available and has been appropriated.
