PACHECO, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TITLE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COLORADO HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR A HISTORIC AND ARCHITECTURAL CONTEXT STUDY OF THE EASTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME ISSUE Should the City Council approve the submittal of a grant application to the Colorado State Historical Society for the completion of a historic and architectural context study of the Eastside neighborhood? RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution BACKGROUND The City's Historic Preservation Commission voted to recommend City Staff to apply for a historic and architectural context study in the amount of $13,500 for the Eastside neighborhood citing the ongoing loss of historic integrity in the neighborhood as well as fulfilling "Initiative E: Historic Preservation Initiative" of the Eastside Neighborhood Plan adopted by City Council in 2005. The project will provide needed historic background information regarding the Eastside, generate information that will help with landmark nominations, stimulate neighborhood pride, and provide information for further historic preservation efforts in an understudied portion of the City. The City is eligible to submit a Certified Local Government grant application each year. This grant will not compete with the application for a renovation of City Hall. FINANCIAL IMPACT City staffs administration of the grant will be the only fiscal impact. No local grant match is required.
