TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF PUEBLO AND MOTOROLA, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,624,000, TO PROVIDE AND INSTALL RADIO SYSTEM
CONSOLES AND RELATED EQUIPMENT IN THE 911 DISPATCH
CENTER, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL
TO EXECUTE SAME
ISSUE
Should Council approve an agreement to acquire and install electronic radio
equipment for use by the City's 911 Dispatch operation.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
The Agreement would provide for the acquisition and installation radio consoles
for use by the City's 911 Dispatch operators. The consoles will allow 911
Dispatch Center personnel to communicate with all City staff that have radios,
and will allow the dispatcher to facilitate communications between radio users
who have dissimilar equipment or different talk groups. Such communications
will extend to Pueblo County radio users, Colorado State Patrol, and other
regional and state users. The contractor, Motorola Inc., is the sole provider of
electronic radio tower equipment compatible with the State of Colorado's Digital
Trunked Radio System.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The radio consoles and associated equipment would be acquired and installed
on a lease purchase arrangement at a cost of $1,624,000 using funds from
project CP0704. This agreement is only for the equipment and implementation
provided directly by Motorola. Services and equipment not provided by Motorola
will be contained in a separate agreement.
