HomeMy WebLinkAbout11141RESOLUTION NO. 11141 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,980 FOR THE DEMOLITION OF 618 EAST 2 ND STREET TO COLORADO DIRT CONTRACTORS, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for Demolition of 618 EAST 2 ND STREET have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of Colorado Dirt Contractors, Inc., of Pueblo, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 A Contract for Demolition of 618 East 2n Street be, and the same is hereby awarded to Colorado Dirt Contractors, Inc., in the amount of $19,980. SECTION 2 The Purchasing Agent be, and she is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3 Funds for this project shall be paid out of Community Development Block Grant funds, Demolition — Substandard Structures. TITLE A RESOLUTION AWARDING A DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,980 FOR THE DEMOLITION OF 618 EAST 2 ND STREET TO COLORADO DIRT CONTRACTORS, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME ISSUE Should the City Council award a contract for the demolition of the structure located at 618 East 2"' Street. RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution BACKGROUND The structure located on the property at 618 East 2 nd Street has been determined by the Building Official to be a dangerous building under the provisions of Chapter 13 of Title 4 Of the Municipal Code. The Building Official has served the required Notice and Order to repair the structure to the owner of the property, and the property owner has failed to comply within the required time periods. Subsequently, the Building Official has issued a request for the Director of Public Works to demolish the structure. An asbestos inspection of the structure has also been conducted, and traces of asbestos materials were found at this location. The work was competitively bid through the City's Purchasing Department, and a copy of the bid summary is attached. FINANCIAL IMPACT This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds.
