ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT BUILDING AT THE CITY'S GOAT HILL

ISSUE
Should Council approve an agreement to acquire and install electronic radio
equipment for a radio tower that will be constructed as part of the City's 700/800
MHz Radio Network project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
The Agreement would provide for the acquisition and installation of electronic
radio equipment for the radio tower site the City is constructing at the City's Goat
Hill radio tower site, 801 Murray Street. Council approved a contract to begin
construction of the tower structure and equipment building, but not the electronic
radio equipment, on July 9, 2007 (Resolution 11050). This agreement would
allow the completion of the tower facility. The contractor, Motorola Inc., is the
sole provider of electronic radio tower equipment compatible with the State of
Colorado's Digital Trunked Radio System.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The electronic radio components would be acquired and installed at a cost not to
exceed $390,000. Funds from a lease purchase agreement will be available in
project CP0704.
