A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY RETREAT VISION AND
COLLABORATION STATEMENTS, ENCOURAGING STRONGER AND INCREASED
COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES OF THE CITY AND COUNTY
OF PUEBLO, COLORADO
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo supports efforts of government entities in the
Pueblo County working together to support and develop opportunities for prosperity to improve
quality of life in the region; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo would like to create opportunities by emphasizing
life long learning, to develop a well educated citizenry by providing excellent educational
institutions from preschool to post secondary institutions including workforce development; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo will work together with the other government
entities in Pueblo County for the benefit of the broader community and supporting the
successes each entity attains, recognize and build on existing resources and identify common
goals and objectives for a better Pueblo community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo will exercise leadership for the citizens of the
Pueblo community with transparency and accountability, trusting the motives and goals of other
Pueblo County partners and recognizing and respecting the expertise of those involved in
enhancing the well being of the region; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo acknowledges the importance and relevance of
working together toward common goals for the good of the people and ensuring these goals are
worked and attained with credibility, diligence and vigor; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Pueblo will prioritize opportunities for prosperity, quality
of life and government cooperation and encourage other individuals and governments in the
Pueblo County region to do the same for safe, clean and vibrant neighborhoods and cities in the
Southern Colorado region for sustainable progress into the 21S Century, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
City Council recognizes the invaluable role of collaboration with other government
entities in Pueblo County and the value these efforts are for the betterment of the citizens of the
region.
SECTION 2.
City Council acknowledges the importance of the Community Retreat vision statement,
and the goals and objectives therein, in bringing about pride and distinctiveness for the City of
Pueblo that will enhance the economic condition and quality of life for the citizens of Pueblo.
SECTION 3
City Council does hereby embrace, support, and promote the attached vision and
collaboration statements and goals of the Community Retreat.

BACKGROUND
On July 14, 2007, the various government organizations and individuals from the
Pueblo community met in Breckenridge, Colorado to discuss ways of enhancing and
improving the communication channels, cooperation efforts of the governmental entities
in Pueblo County, as well as, to develop a joint vision statement for the Pueblo
community. From this meeting the participants decided to identify areas of priorities for
the community. They are:
Opportunities for Prosperity: Economic Development, Education and Water
Quality of Life: Public Health, Recreation, Public Safety- Security, Aesthetics —
Clean and Attractive, Water, Value Diversity
Government Cooperation: Community Empowerment
Approve the Resolution.

Vision Statement
The Pueblo community will
— Ensure our quality of life by providing
• safe, clean, and attractive neighborhoods
• access to quality health care, diverse recreational and cultural amenities, and clean and
abundant water
• appreciation of diversity and Pueblo's unique attributes
— Create opportunities for prosperity by
• building and sustaining a vibrant economy
• providing excellent educational institutions from preschool to post secondary including
work force development
• emphasizing life long learning to develop a well educated, globally competitive citizenry
— Demonstrate cooperation and collaboration among leaders and
stakeholders to achieve our vision
Collaboration Statement
• Pueblo leaders will work together to support and develop
opportunities for prosperity to improve quality of life in the
region.
