A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$221,266.65 TO CEDAR RIDGE LANDSCAPE, INC. AND SETTING FORTH $33,190 FOR
CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK, FOR THE JERRY MURPHY ROAD AND
BONFORTE BOULEVARD MEDIAN LANDSCAPING PROJECT NO. 07 -029 (CP0701 & CP0707)
AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for the Jerry Murphy Road and Bonforte Boulevard Median
Landscaping Project, No. 07 -029, have been received and examined; and
WHEREAS, the proposal of Cedar Ridge Landscape, Inc. of Pueblo, Colorado, was the low
bidder and has been determined to be responsible.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1
The contract for the Jerry Murphy Road and Bonforte Boulevard Median Landscaping
Project, No. 07 -029 be, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of
$221,266.65.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute the Contract on behalf of Pueblo, a
Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the Seal of the City thereto and attest same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as
stipulated in this section in the amount of $33,190.00 is hereby established for contingencies and
additional work.
SECTION 4.
Funds in the amount of $200,000 shall be paid from Capital Project No. CP0707 and funds in
the amount of $54,456.65 shall be paid from Capital Project No. CP0701.

Should the City Council Award a construction contract in the amount of $221,266.65 to
Cedar Ridge Landscape, Inc. for the Jerry Murphy Road and Bonforte Boulevard
Median Landscaping Project No. 07 -029 and set forth $33,190.00 for additional work
and contingencies?
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The Contract consists of two separate project sites involving median landscaping. One
site is located on Jerry Murphy Road and the other is located on Bonforte Boulevard.
The City has entered into an Agreement (Ordinance No. 7581) with the University Park
Neighborhood Association for the construction and maintenance of the Jerry Murphy
Road Median Project. The Bonforte Boulevard Median Landscaping Project was
identified by City Council for funding through the Aesthetic Improvement Fund
established in 2006 for FY2007.
The Jerry Murphy Road and Bonforte Boulevard Median Landscaping Project, No. 07-
029 will consist of landscape improvements to the existing medians on Jerry Murphy
Road and Bonforte Boulevard along with streetscape along Jerry Murphy Road that
matches the Phase One Streetscape Project constructed in 1999. The improvements
consist of color concrete splashguard aprons, water -wise perennials, shrubs and trees,
decorative gravel and planters.
The Bonforte Boulevard median has a minimum amount of planted area and will consist
of low -water use plant material that will not require an irrigation system, decorative
gravel, existing boulders and color concrete in the areas too narrow for landscaping.
Landscape Contractor, Cedar Ridge Landscape, Inc., was the successful low bidder
(see Bid Summary). The Bid was received, examined and found responsible. The
Base Bid with Add Alternates is in the amount of $221,266.65. An amount of
$33,190.00 is recommended for contingencies and additional work.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $254,456.65 for the project have been budgeted and
appropriated and are available from Capital Projects No. CP0701, Aesthetic
Improvements Fund and CP0707, Jerry Murphy Streetscape Project.
