HomeMy WebLinkAbout11033RESOLUTION NO. 11033 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO APPLY FOR A 2007 COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES (COPS) METHAMPHETAMINE (METH) INITIATIVE GRANT WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo is eligible to submit a grant application to the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for COPS 2007 Methamphetamine ( "Meth ") Initiative Grant funding; and WHEREAS, the funds from this grant will be utilized by the Police Department to benefit the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The application for a COPS 2007 Methamphetamine ( "Meth ") Initiative Grant, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved. The President of the City Council is authorized to submit the application in the name of the City. SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective upon its passage. TITLE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO APPLY FOR A 2007 COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES (COPS) METHAMPHETAMINE (METH) INITIATIVE GRANT ISSUE The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has informed the Police Department that funds are available under the COPS 2007 Methamphetamine ( "Meth ") Initiative in the amount up to $450,000.00. These funds are to be used for community policing efforts in preventing the production, use, and distribution of methamphetamine. RECOMMENDATION The department recommends approval of this resolution. BACKGROUND The COPS 2007 Methamphetamine Initiative Grant Program provides funds to units of local government to develop or support an existing comprehensive anti - methamphetamine strategy. The program is designed to help local communities address problems specific to their area. FINANCIAL IMPACT None. There is no local match required
