TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF PUEBLO AND MOTOROLA, INC., TO PROVIDE AND
INSTALL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT FOR A RADIO TOWER AND
ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT BUILDING, IN THE AMOUNT OF
$390,000 AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL
TO EXECUTE SAME.
ISSUE
Should Council approve an agreement to acquire and install electronic radio
equipment for a radio tower that will be constructed as of a radio tower as part of
the City's 800 MHz Radio Network project.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
The Agreement would provide for the acquisition: and ;:installation of electronic
radio equipment for the radio tower site the City is constructing on the Board of
Water Works property, north of the CSU- Pueblo campus. Council approved a
contract to begin construction of the tower structure and equipment building, but
not the electronic radio equipment, on May 14, 2007 (Resolution 11007). This
agreement would allow the completion of the tower facility and would fulfill the
City's grant obligation. The contractor, Motorola Inc., is the sole provider of
electronic radio tower equipment compatible with the State of Colorado's Digital
Trunked Radio System.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The electronic radio components would be acquired and installed at a cost not to
exceed $390,000. There is $221,320 available to fund this project from a grant
accepted by Council for this specific purpose (Ordinance 7505, approved August
28, 2006). An additional $168,680 from other grant funds or a general fund
appropriation is needed to fully fund this project.
