RECOMMENDATION
The department recommends approval of this resolution. to 'assist in education and
enforcement efforts involving traffic safety and seatbelt usage.
This grant application, if approved, will allow the Police Department to increase its efforts
in traffic safety and seatbelt usage. All overtime costs for officers involved in this effort
will be paid with "Click It or Ticket" funds. Community awareness efforts will continue
through continued collaboration with CDOT and the statewide media campaign during the
mobilization period. We anticipate that a continued education and enforcement presence
will be needed to have a long lasting impact on the problem of seatbelt usage with a goal
to increase seatbelt usage to 82.5% statewide.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None. There is no local match required.
Campaign Goals:
• Increase compliance with Colorado's seat belt and child passenger safety laws
• Increase compliance with Colorado's Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) laws
• Increase public awareness of the likelihood of receiving a ticket for non - compliance when
stopped for another violation

during a "wave" scheduled for May 21 through June 3, 2007.
