A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION
TO THE STATE BOARD OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS COLORADO TRUST FUND TO
CONSTRUCT AN AQUATIC PLAYGROUND AT MITCHELL PARK AND AUTHORIZING THE
PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME
WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo supports the Aquatic Playground project at Mitchell Park and
agrees to submit a Grant Application to the State Board of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust
Fund to construct the project; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO. that:
A grant application requesting $150,000 from the State Board of the Great Outdoors
Colorado Trust Fund to construct an Aquatic Playground at Mitchell Park, a copy of which is
attached hereto, is hereby approved.
SECTION 2.
The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the grant
application in the name of and on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the
City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same.

ISSUE
Should the City Council submit a Grant Application to the State Board of the Great
Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund to construct an Aquatic Playground at Mitchell Park and
authorize the President of Council to execute same?
Approval of the Resolution
BACKGROUND
The City's Planning Department is requesting City Council to apply for a $150,000 grant
from GOCO to construct an Aquatic Playground at Mitchell Park (see attached Grant
Application Summary). The Aquatic Playground will consist of constructing a large "dry
basin" that will have an assortment of equipment that will spray water at the playground
users. The playground will be operated as a stand -alone fountain that will have it's own
treated water system. Improvements will include; concrete basin, aquatic playground
equipment, a re- circulating pump system, holding tank, reconfigure the irrigation
system, and a security fence.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The proposed Aquatic Playground is estimated to cost $400,000. The following is a
breakdown of the proposed funding for the project:
Great Outdoors Colorado $150,000
County Ballot 1A Funds 250.000
TOTAL $400,000
The City will appropriate and budget the project once GOCO approves the grant
application and the City enters into an agreement for the funds.
