HomeMy WebLinkAbout10923RESOLUTION NO. 10923 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SWIMMING ADVISORY PLANNING COMMITTEE AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THIS ADVISORY PLANNING COMMITTEE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: There is hereby established and created the Swimming Advisory Planning Committee (the "Committee ") to serve as an advisory committee to the City Council. The Committee shall consist of a total of five members to serve without compensation. The City Council shall appoint the members of the Committee. Four members shall resident within the City limits and one member may reside outside the City limits, but must be a resident of Pueblo County. Members shall be appointed for a one -year term beginning in February 1, 2007 and ending January 31, 2008. SECTION 2: The mission of the Committee is to evaluate, promote and recommend recreational swimming programs and activities for the City of Pueblo that will prioritize needs for swimming pool maintenance, equipment and improvements and also identify related recommended funding sources. The Committee shall continue to meet on an annual basis beginning in 2008 in order to conduct annual reviews of the City's Swimming Programs. SECTION 3: The Committee shall have not regular staff or budget but may request administrative assistance from the City Manager. SECTION 4: The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Swimming Advisory Planning Committee to serve a 1 -year term expiring January 31, 2008: Dennis Ray Gimlin, D.D.S. H. Robert (Bob) Haley Kathy Howard Dennis W. GALLI, CITY MANAGER TITLE A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SWIMMING ADVISORY PLANNING COMMITTEE AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THIS ADVISORY PLANNING COMMITTEE ISSUE Should the City Council appoint citizens of the Swimming Community to a Swimming Advisory Planning Committee to evaluate, promote and recommend recreational swimming programs and activities for the City of Pueblo? City staff has reviewed the applicants and recommends the individuals listed in Section 4 of the Resolution for appointment. Enclosed are the letters submitted from all individuals wishing consideration. Council may appoint any individual they desire to the committee designed for approval of the Resolution. BACKGROUND Membership will consist of a total of five members and will be appointed by City Council. Four members shall reside within the City limits and one member may reside outside the City limits, but must be a resident of Pueblo County. The term of the committee will be for one year from February 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008 and meetings will be held once a month. Appointed Committee Members will be required to meet with the Swimming public as needed in order to solicit input regarding the City's swimming program needs and assist with prioritizing needs for swimming pool maintenance, equipment and improvements and identify recommended funding sources. The Committee shall continue to meet on an annual basis beginning in 2008 in order to conduct annual reviews of the City's Swimming Programs. FINANCIAL IMPACT None.
