TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PARKING FEE RATE CHANGE FOR THE
MUNICIPAL PARKING FACILITY LOCATED AT 300 COURT STREET.
ISSUE
Should City Council authorize the Transportation Division of Public Works to change
the monthly parking fee charged for the municipal parking facility located at 300 Court
Street?
Approval of this resolution.
BACKGROUND
The Transportation Division of Public Works conducted a survey of private downtown
parking facilities during August 2005. Results indicate the monthly parking fee
charged for in the municipal parking facility located at 300 Court Street should be
increased from $30 to $35 per space in order to reflect its proximity to the downtown
business district.
Users deem the 300 Court Street parking facility as "prime" downtown parking.
Department records indicate every parking space at this location has been sold every
month since January 2001. With recent increases in downtown businesses, this
facility is sold out for as many as 3-4 months in advance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
A projected revenue increase of $2,460 annually (41 monthly permits multiplied by $5
each) is expected for the rate change.
