TITLE
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR A STATE
HISTORICAL FUND CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT FOR THE PUEBLO
NORTHSIDE INTENSIVE HISTORIC BUILDING SURVEY, PHASE II AND
AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO SUBMIT SAME.
ISSUE
Should the City Council approve the submittal of a 2007 Certified Local Government
grant application for Phase 11 of a Pueblo Northside Intensive Historic Building Survey?
RECOMMENDATION
The Historic Preservation Commission voted 7-0 at their October 26, 2006 meeting to
recommend submittal of the application.
Pursuant to Resolution #10503 approved by the City Council of Pueblo September 12,
2005, the City was approved October 18, 2005 by the U.S. D. 1. National Park Service as a
Certified Local Government (CLG) for historic preservation purposes. Certification
provides the City with eligibility to a proprietary grant program available only to Certified
Local Governments for restricted historic preservation projects within the jurisdiction of
the CLG.
The city is eligible to submit a CLG grant application each year. The project proposed for
this year is a continuation of the northside historic building survey, providing professional
expertise in evaluating the eligibility of the northside neighborhood for historic district
designation. The grant request amount is $29,140.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Administration of the grant and the Survey project will be the only fiscal impact. No
local grant match is required.
