HomeMy WebLinkAbout10834RESOLUTION NO. 10834 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: The following individual is hereby appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission to complete the term expiring July 1, 2007 due to the removal of Commissioner Robert Avila: W.I. Thomas BY Randy Thurston Councilperson APPROVED: a President of City Council ATTESTED BY: CITY CLERK INTRODUCED October 10, 2006 Background Paper for Proposed RESOLUTION Q DATE: OCTOBER 10, 2006 AGENDA ITEM # I V DEPARTMENT: CITY CLERK GINA DUTCHER, CIVIC TITLE A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION ISSUE Should City Council appoint a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission to complete the term expiring July 1, 2007? RECOMMENDATION Approve the Resolution and appoint a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Section 2 -5 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo states, "If any member of a board or commission appointed by City Council shall absent himself from three (3) consecutive regular meetings of the board or commission, such office is automatically declared vacant." Due to the removal of Commissioner Robert Avila, a vacancy now exists on the Planning and Zoning Commission. (See attached letter from Chairman Wm. David Lytle.) An advertisement was published in the Pueblo Chieftain on Sunday, September 10, 2006 seeking volunteers to serve on this committee and the following individual submitted an application: Warren J. Diodosio The City Clerk's Office also contacted two applicants who recently applied for this committee (June 2006) to see if they would like to have their applications resubmitted for further consideration.
