TITLE
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO AMERICAN
MECHANICAL SERVICES OF COLORADO SPRINGS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$21,780 AND SETTING FORTH $3,200 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL
WORK TO REMOVE & REPLACE THE BOILER SYSTEM AT FIRE STATION NO.
10 AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME
ISSUE
Should City Council approve a resolution awarding a construction contract to American
Mechanical Services of Colorado Springs to remove and replace the boiler system at Fire
Station No. 10.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The boiler at Fire Station No. 10 is approximately 40 years old and has exceeding the life
expectancy by at least 10 years. With gas prices rising, the cost to operate the boiler in
this condition will increase greatly. This project will remove and replace the boiler with
a new unit that will run at approximately 83% efficiency, therefore saving a significant
amount of money in operating costs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for this project will be paid from Project Number CP0605.
