HomeMy WebLinkAbout10651RESOLUTION NO. 10651 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO APPLY FOR A 2006 COLORADO DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (COLORADO JAG) WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo is eligible to submit a grant application to the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice for the 2006 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (Colorado JAG) funding; and WHEREAS, the term of the grant covers the period from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007; and WHEREAS, the funds from this grant will be utilized by the City of Pueblo to benefit the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The application for a 2006 Colorado Division of Criminal Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (Colorado JAG), a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved. The President of the City Council is authorized to submit the application in the name of the City. SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective upon its passage. The term of this grant covers the period from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007. RECOMMENDATION The department recommends approval of this resolution. BACKGROUND The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (Colorado JAG) Program provides funds to units of local government for the purpose of improving law enforcement technology and upgrading necessary equipment. The program is designed to help local communities address problems specific to their area. FINANCIAL IMPACT None. There is no local match required for this grant.
