TITLE
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT TO FREEDOM LIFTS, INC., IN THE
AMOUNT OF $27,865 AND SETTING FORTH $2,800 FOR CONTINGENCIES TO
FURNISH AND INSTALL AN INCLINED PLATFORM LIFT AT CITY HALL
ISSUE
Should the City Council award a contract to Freedom Lifts, Inc. for $27,865 to furnish
and install an inclined platform lift at City Hall.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The only A.D.A. access to City Hall at this time is the platform lift. The current lift is a
very unreliable, high - maintenance unit and is in great need of replacement. The new lift
has a much higher capacity (500 lbs) and a greater safety factor. This lift also has the
capability to fold up, which will free up both sets of stairs for entry and exit when the lift
is not in use. Because the new lift will go around corners, the old storage closet at the
foot of the stairs will be demolished, therefore restoring the vestibule to its original glory,
also allowing the lift to be parked around the corner totally out of the way.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This project shall be paid from CDBG funds, Project No. CD0336.
