Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
The structure located on the property at 2122 West Street has been determined by the
Building Official to be a dangerous building under the provisions of Chapter 13 of Title 4
of the Municipal Code. The Building Official has served the required Notice and Order
to repair the structure to the owner of the property, and the property owner has failed to
comply within the required time periods. Subsequently, the Building Official has issued
a request for the Director of Public Works to demolish the structure. This structure has
been approved for demolition by the City's Housing and Community Development
Department after review of historic preservation concerns. An asbestos inspection of the
structure has also been conducted, and asbestos materials were found at this location. See
attached letter from Lillian Bayless, Dirt N Demo.
The work was competitively bid through the City's Purchasing Department, and a copy
of the bid summary is attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This demolition contract will be paid from Community Development Block Grant Funds.
