INTRODUCED October 24, 2005 PRES1 9 F CITY frP s BY Randy Thurston Councilperson J t T L . ______ Background Paper for Proposed RESOLUTION AGENDA ITEM #1 `1 DATE: October 24, 2005 DEPARTMENT: OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER DAVE GALLI, CITY MANAGER DOUG FITZGERALD, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER TITLE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $3,000 FROM THE CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2005 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE OUT OF CYCLE REQUESTS TO FUND THE PURCHASING OF THE 1928 AMERICAN LA FRANCE HOOK AND LADDER TRUCK FOR THE PUEBLO FIREFIGHTERS HISTORICAL SOCIETY ISSUE The Pueblo Firefighters Historical Society (PFHS) is seeking to purchase a 1928 American La France Hook and Ladder Truck ( "Old Truck No. 1 ") from a group of owners in Salida, Colorado. This truck was once part of the Pueblo Fire Department inventory that subsequently was sold in 1953. The current owners of "Old Truck No. 1" are asking $6,000 for this vintage piece of fire equipment, and the PFHS would like to see this historical fire truck returned to the City. The PFHS is asking the City of Pueblo to donate $3,000, with other donations coming from Little Caesars ($1,000), the IAFF Local #3 ($1,000), and the Pueblo Firefighters Historical Society itself will contribute $1,000. RECOMMENDATION Resolution is at the request of Councilman Thurston. FINANCIAL IMPACT Funds in the amount of $3,000 will be transferred from the Contingencies Account in the 2005 General Fund Budget (see attached spreadsheet for the balance in the contingencies account).
