A, V INTRODUCED September 26, 2005 BY Dr. Bill Sova Councilperson 0 Background Paper for Proposed RESOLUTION AGENDA ITEM S i- ate -os DATE: September 26, 2005 DEPARTMENT: CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE DAVE GALLI, CITY MANAGER DOUG FITZGERALD, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER TITLE A RESOLUTION IMPOSING A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM ON ENFORCEMENT OF SECTION 17- 10 -050) OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF TEMPORARY SIGNS ALLOWABLE FOR ALL DISTRICTS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS ISSUE The provisions of Section 17 -10 -050) of the Pueblo Municipal Code allow only two (2) temporary signs in all districts within the City of Pueblo. It has been suggested by members of the public that this provision interferes with their ability to advertise their support or opposition to more than two (2) election year issues and /or candidates running for office. Since this restriction was recently adopted by the City and two separate elections are being held in November 2005, it may be appropriate to impose a temporary moratorium on enforcement of this restriction during the 2005 elections. This temporary moratorium on enforcement will take place immediately upon passage of this resolution and will end on November 15, 2005. Thereafter, if Council wishes to do so, this restriction can be further reviewed, remain intact, or be amended. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution. FINANCIAL IMPACT No financial impact.
