TITLE
A RESOLUTION AMENDING AND INCREASING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO
TOTAL TERRAIN, INC., FOR THE FY 2004 FAIRMOUNT PARK ENHANCEMENT
PROJECT — BID NO. 04 -062 AND TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM PROJECT NO.
CP0599 THEREFOR
ISSUE
Should the City Council increase a construction contract to Total Terrain, Inc., for the FY
2004 Fairmount Park Enhancement Project, Bid No. 04 -062 by $6,500.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
During the design phase for this project, the City hired a geotechnical engineering
consultant (Terracon) to investigate and make recommendations for an underdrain
system to correct a shallow groundwater problem that was prevalent in the southwest
area of the park. The underdrain was installed this past winter and has appeared to be
successful in controlling the shallow groundwater. Unfortunately, another area of
saturated soils, between the curb and sidewalk along Franklin Avenue has developed.
It was suggested by the Contractor (Total Terrain, Inc.) to provide an additional trench
drain line along this area (see attached letter from Total Terrain dated April 18, 2005).
This appropriation will allow for the installation of the additional drain line.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds for this project were budgeted and appropriated in Ordinance No. 6997
approved by City Council on June 9, 2003 and have been placed in Project Account No.
PI-0302. Additional funds in the amount of $6,500 will come from Project No. CP0599
and will be transferred into Project No. PI-0302.
