ISSUE
Council Member Thurston has been approached by various citizens inquiring as
to the feasibility of a pedestrian walkway over Pueblo Boulevard where it
intersects with Lehigh. As Council may recall, this was the site of a traffic fatality
several years ago involving a young student from Pitts Middle School. This
resolution states the City Council's intent to explore the feasibility of the walkway
and to instruct City Administration to contact the Colorado Department of
Transportation (CDOT) to discuss the feasibility with them.
RECOMMENDATION
This resolution is placed on the agenda at the request of Council Member
Thurston.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact at this time. Construction of the pedestrian walkway
will require grant requests, donations from private individuals and corporations
and financial contribution from the City.
