HomeMy WebLinkAbout10373RESOLUTION NO. 10373 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE HISTORIC COLORADO FUEL AND IRON LANDSCAPE REHABILITATION AND 1 -25 BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT TO THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME WHEREAS, The Bessemer Historical Society is a partner in the implementation of the Bessemer Neighborhood Plan of which this project is a part. City Council supports and authorizes the submittal of a grant application for the Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Rehabilitation and 1 -25 Beautification Project for the purpose of landscape site improvements. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the grant application for the Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Rehabilitation and 1 -25 Beautification Project on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, to the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 2. The grant application is requesting $200,000 dollars from CDOT for site landscape improvements. The Bessemer Historical Society will provide the required match. SECTION 3. A copy of the grant application is attached hereto and is on file at the City of Pueblo's Department of Planning. Approve the Resolution. BACKGROUND A grant application for the Historic Colorado Fuel and Iron Landscape Rehabilitation and 1 -25 Beautification Project has been prepared by the Bessemer Historical Society. The work to be performed under this grant application is in compliance and implements the Bessemer Neighborhood Plan. The Planning and Zoning Commission and the Pueblo City Council have approved this plan. Under this grant program, the City must be the applicant. The Scope of Work to be performed will include the rehabilitation of the historic landscaping and the addition of new landscape material within the parking lots and adjoining 1 -25. FINANCIAL IMPACT The application is for $200,000. Prior to entering into the contract for the grant, the City will enter into a contract with the Bessemer Historical Society to provide the twenty percent (20°x) matches required.
