HomeMy WebLinkAbout10372RESOLUTION NO. 10372 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE SANTA FE AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, PHASE 2 TO THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME WHEREAS, City Council supports and authorizes the submittal of a grant application for the Santa Fe Avenue Improvement Project, Phase 2 for the purpose of pedestrian and landscape enhancements on North Santa Fe Avenue at the intersections of 7th and 8th Streets; and BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the grant application for the Santa Fe Avenue Improvement Project, Phase 2 on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, to the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 2 The grant application is requesting $200,000 dollars from CDOT for the streetscape improvement project. If the grant is awarded, up to $5,000 City of Pueblo in -kind services and $50,000 in cash match may be available from PL0503, EIAF No. 4726, Storm Water Utility Fund, and /or the General Fund. $55,000 will be committed as matching funds towards a total project cost of $255,000 dollars. SECTION 3. A copy of the grant application is attached hereto and is on file at the City of Pueblo's Department of Planning. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Resolution. BACKGROUND A grant application for the Santa Fe Avenue Improvement, Phase 2 has been prepared by the City of Pueblo identifying potential funding in the amount of $200,000 from CDOT for the second phase of the streetscape improvement project. The total project is estimated to cost $255,000 and includes curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm inlet improvements at the intersections of 7 th and 8 th Streets. the reconstruction of the river trail from 4 th Street to the railroad crossing west of Santa Fe Avenue. The first phase of the project, will begin construction in September of 2005, which will replace a sanitary sewer mainline from 4 th Street to 6 th Street and construct pedestrian streetscape improvements at the intersections of 5 th and 6 th Streets. FINANCIAL IMPACT The local match requirement of $50,000 will be available from PL0503, EIAF No. 4726, Storm Water Utility Fund, and /or General Fund. The City of Pueblo will commit to the in -kind match of $5,000 for construction inspection and survay. City will maintain the streetscape.
