TITLE
A RESOLUTION INSTRUCTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO EVALUATE
BUS FARE RATES FOR PUEBLO TRANSIT AND TO RECOMMEND
INCREASES TO THOSE RATES
ISSUE
Bus fare rates for riders on Pueblo Transit have not been increased since 1997.
With the increasing prices of fuel, maintenance expenses on the buses, and
increased ridership in certain areas of Transit (primarily Citi -Lift), it is the
recommendation of the City administration and the Pueblo Transit Board that we
begin the process to evaluate the existing bus fares and recommend subsequent
increases to the fares. This resolution will instruct the administration to begin the
process by following the necessary Federal guidelines, including holding public
hearings, before recommending a fare increase schedule. Any increase in fares
will be brought to City Council to be approved by separate action.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the resolution.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact at this time; however, future actions increasing bus
fares will provide increased revenues for the operation of Pueblo Transit.
