TITLE
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $115,115 TO INTERMOUNTAIN SLURRY SEAL AND SETTING
FORTH $17,200 FOR CONTINGENCIES FOR FY 2004 ASPHALT STREET
RESURFACING PROJECT (SLURRY SEAL) AND AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME.
ISSUE
Should the City Council award a construction contract for FY 2004 Asphalt Street
Resurfacing Project (Slurry Seal) to Intermountain Slurry Seal for $115,115.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
Under this contract, various city streets will be resurfaced with an asphaltic
product called Slurry Seal. This product consists of crushed aggregate and
asphalt emulsions which are mixed together just prior to being applied to the
street surface. It provides protection against moisture and oxidation and
improves skid resistance.
This product is suitable for streets that are not severely deteriorated and that
have only minor surface irregularities. Its purpose is preventative maintenance
rather than corrective maintenance.
A copy of the bid summary and a list of the streets included in the project are
attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for this project will come from the City's allocation of the Highway Users
Trust Fund.
