BACKGROUND
The following application has been prepared by City Staff and requires municipal
support for submittal to the Colorado Historical Society for consideration to receive
monies from the State Historical Fund.
The grant application is requesting funds in the amount of $90,750 to complete the El
Pueblo Archaeology Pavilion. The local grant match in the amount of $30,350 is
available in Capital Project No. CP0002. The total project costs are $121,000 and
include the construction of an interpretive catwalk bridge over the archaeology dig site
and the installation of lighting and heating systems. Schematic plans have been
completed by HGF Architects, Inc. and they are preparing construction documents for
the project. The funds from the State Historical Fund are critical for the completion of
the project. Attached is a support letter from Joseph Bell, Facilities Director of the
Colorado Historical Society. The El Pueblo Archaeology Pavilion is owned by the City
and will be administered by the City.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for the proposed 25% cash match in the amount of $30,250 are available from
Capital Project El 0002.
