for the El Pueblo Museum Site Improvements Project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The El Pueblo Project consists of the State Historical Museum and National
Byways Information Center; the adobe fort/trading post; the archaeology pavilion;
and the park/plaza and site improvements.
This contract involves the Site Improvements of right of way and City owned
areas around the new El Pueblo Museum. The work consists of curb and gutter,
sidewalk, storm sewer inlets, asphalt parking lot, concrete plaza, brick paving,
street lighting and the Headwaters Fountain. (See enclosed site plans).
T L Printz Constructors was successful as the low bidder in the amount of
$534,948.34. Alternates 1 through 3 were chosen to keep project costs down to
afford landscaping in another contract to be bid early in 2004. A total of two
general contractors bid on the project. (See attached Bid Summary) The bids
were lower than the City's Estimate of $580,700. A standard 10% contingency in
the amount of $53,494.83 is requested. The total funds necessary to award the
contract is $588,443.17.
The following Project numbers have been designated for the El Pueblo Project:
EL0001, EL0002, EL0101, and EL0102. These include grants from the Energy
Mineral Impact Assistance Fund, Economic Development Administration and
private donations to the HARP Foundation.
The Department of Public Works and Department of Planning and Development
will be responsible for project management. Construction is scheduled to begin
immediately in January 2004.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $588,443.17 shall be paid from Project Number's EL0001,
