A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF THE REAL PROPERTY AT 320
WEST FIRST STREET TO THE STATE OF COLORADO, STATE HISTORICAL
SOCIETY OF COLORADO
ISSUE
Should the City Council authorize the transfer of a real property to the State of
Colorado, Colorado Historical Society for the El Pueblo Museum expansion project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The El Pueblo History Museum Trading Post was completed in 2001 as a component of
the El Pueblo Master Plan. It was constructed with funds from the Packard Foundation,
Energy Mineral Impact assistance Fund, and the Colorado Department of
Transportation, Enhancements Funds Program. No City funds were used for the
construction. The transfer of the property to another public agency does not jeopardize
the loss or replacement of grant funds under contract with the City.
The Colorado Historical society has entered a Facilities Use Agreement with the City of
Pueblo in November 2001 for the use of the adobe trading post. The building itself is
used extensively by the Museum for educational programs and events. The
maintenance of the facility will no longer be the responsibility of the City.
Enclosed please find a copy of the Quit Claim Deed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The State will be responsible for maintenance and operation costs of this previously
owned City property. There is no other Financial Impact.
