Re: Pueblo Medal of Honor Memorial Foundation
Dear Tom:
A couple of years ago, you were helpful in assistinq the Pueblo
Medal of Honor Foundation in acquiring an 18.12% interest in some
property just south of the old Ramada Inn in East Pueblo. This
property was originally planned to be a new site for the Pueblo
Chieftain. The Chieftain conveyed an interest to the Arts Center,
to USC Foundation, and an 18.12% interest for the benefit of the
Medal of Honor Project.
To refresh your memory, the Medal of Honor Project was originally
to be at the State Fair, and therefore, its interest in the
property was conveyed to the Colorado State Fair Authority. After
it was decided not to place it at the State Fair, the State Fair
Authority conveyed the property to the City of Pueblo. Enclosed
is a copy of the City of Pueblo resolution and the deed.
The Medal of Honor Foundation is continuing and will be assisting
the Convention Center with its maintenance, etc. and other
projects involved with the Medal of Honor recognition.
We would like, if possible, to have the City convey the 18.12%
interest in the property to the Foundation so that, when and if
the Chieftain is successful in finding a buyer, the City won't
have to be concerned with that aspect.
Pete Lemon from Colorado Springs is very active in directing the
activities of the Foundation and is excited about the Foundation
continuing to support the Medal of Honor Project in Pueblo.
I'd be glad to address any questions you or the Council might
have. In the meantime, if you have a problem with this request,
please let me know. If you don't, perhaps you can prepare
whatever resolution is necessary for the conveyance to be made.
