HomeMy WebLinkAbout09841RESOLUTION NO. 9841 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SCOPE OF WORK AND EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO PREPARE THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN AND PRELIMINARY COST ESTIMATE FOR EXPANSION OF THE PUEBLO CONVENTION CENTER WHEREAS, the Pueblo City Council Resolution Number 9782, found that an area of the City is appropriate for study as an Urban Renewal Project or Projects; and directed that all expenditure of funds and contracts for professional, financial or consulting services including scope of services entered into by the Authority with respect to any proposed Urban Renewal Plan or Project be approved by the City Council by Resolution. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Pueblo City Council hereby approves the scope of work, which is attached and incorporated herein, to prepare the Schematic Design and Preliminary Cost Estimate for Expansion of the Pueblo Convention Center. SECTION 2. The Pueblo City Council hereby approves the expenditure of $86,086 for the preparation of a Schematic Design and Preliminary Cost Estimate for Expansion of the Pueblo Convention Center. Program A program document will be fumished by lhe Urban Renewal Authority to the architects, which outlines the project components including: (1) the space requirements of the Exposition Hall, and the architectural and functional integration of the Exposition Hall with the existing structure and, (2) the architectural interface with the HARP Linkage based upon the Harp Plan Schematic Design and the functional integration of the facility with other downtown projects. The Urban Renewal Authority will also provide the schedule and construction budget requirements for the expansion. The Architect shall review the program plan with the owner to ascertain the requirements of the project and shall ardve at a mutual understanding of the requirements with the Urban Renewal Authority. 2. Preliminary Evaluation of the Program Document by Architects The Architect shall meet with representatives of the Urban Renewal Authority, the City Planning Department, Global Spectrum, (the operators of the Convention Center), and prepare a preliminary evaluation of the Urban Renewal Authodty's program, schedule and construction budget requirements, each in terms of the other. 3. Alternative Development The Architect in consultation with representatives of the Urban Renewal Authority will develop alternative approaches to design and construction of the Convention Center Addition. The Final Design will be presented by the architects to the entire Urban Renewal Authority Board for approval of the preferred design. 4. Final Schematic Design Based upon the approved preferred design, schedule and construction budget requirements, the Architect shall prepare, for approval by the Owner, Schematic Design Documents consisting of drawings and other documents illustrating the scale and relationship of two project components. 5. Preliminary Cost Estimate The Architect shall submit to the Owner a preliminary estimate of construction cost by Construction Specification Institute divisions based on current area, volume or similar conceptual estimating techniques. 6. Schedule The Schematic Design should be completed within a six (6) month time frame.
