A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO SUBMIT TO A VOTE OF
THE PEOPLE AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 4, 2003 A BOND PROPOSAL TO
FINANCE A NEW POLICE BUILDING AND RELATED
FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the current police building and related facilities are substantially
inadequate to meet the needs of the citizens of the City and the Pueblo Police Department,
contribute to a reduction in effective and efficient law enforcement services, and have an
adverse impact on the morale of police officers and public safety, and
WHEREAS, City Council has considered submitting a ballot proposal to a vote of
the people on November 5, 2002 to finance a new police building and related facilities, and
WHEREAS, School District No. 60 will submit on November 5, 2002 an
approximately $98,000,000 bond proposal to a vote of the people to finance needed school
capital projects, and
WHEREAS, the City Council at the request of School District No. 60 is willing to
defer submitting a bond proposal to a vote of the people to finance a new police building
and related facilities to November 4, 2003. NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1
The City Council does hereby express its intent to submit to a vote of the people at
the general municipal election to be held November 4, 2003 a bond proposal to finance a
new police building and related facilities.
SECTION 2
This Resolution shall become effective upon final approval and passage.
